Literary Characters Whom We Should Aspire To Be

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UK chapter.

1. Alaska Young- Looking for Alaska

“I wanted to be one of those people who have streaks to maintain, who scorch the ground with their intensity. But for now, at least I knew such people, and they needed me, just like comets need tails.”

Known for her bad habits, reckless behavior, and enigmatic soul; Alaska Young is someone who we all wish we had the guts to personify.

2Minny Jackson- The Help

This woman’s persistence and work ethic is a reckoning force. The only thing bigger than her heart is her attitude.

3. Scout Finch– To Kill A Mockingbird

Her sweet soul and spunky spirit sets her apart in the prejudice world in which she exists. At only 6 years old, Scout has an outlook on life that is truly admirable.

4. Margo Roth Spiegelman– Paper Towns

“She loved mysteries so much that she became one.”

Its not that Margo is the kindest literary character, Actually, she is self-absorbed, mischievous and all around unlikable. However, the obscurity of Margo is what makes her so alluring. She acts without consequences and doesn’t give a second thought to what others think of her.

Lauren identifies herself as a fun-loving daughter of The King. She is studying Journalism at the University of Kentucky and plans on pursuing a career as a book editor. She is infatuated with her role as a sister in Chi Omega at UK but her roots are planted in southern Ohio. She is an avid reader, hammock dweller, animal lover, and coffee sipper. Her aim is to never let the grandeur of of this world (especially this university) go unnoticed.
"All you need is faith, trust, and pixie dust."
