Julia’s Kitchen: 5 Ways To Jazz Up Your Grilled Cheese

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UK chapter.

Every now and then, I need a good meal to take me back to my childhood… And, grilled cheese always does the trick.

But, why just limit yourself to bread and cheese?

Here are five jazzed-up grilled cheese recipes that will certainly delight your inner child, but also satisfy your adult appetite!!

1. Tomato, mozzarella and spinach — It’s like a margherita pizza, in grilled cheese form!

2. Ham and swiss — Classic, but oh-so-good!

3. Use all the cheeses — Colby jack, muenster, Havarti, gouda, pepper jack, Swiss, cheddar and provolone.

4. Avocados — Yes, they do make grilled cheeses better, too!

5. BACON — Enough said.

Julia is an English and Journalism Major at the University of Kentucky. Her ideal brunch bunch would include (but is not limited to) Lena Dunham, Amy Poehler, and Barbara Kingsolver, and she one day hopes to do something that will land her an interview with Terry Gross on NPR's Fresh Air.
"Sam I am," and I LOVE to read. Whether it's Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" or The Mortal Instruments series, I'm always reading. And when I'm not reading, I'm writing; English papers, magazine editorials, you name it! Italian food is my favorite, shoe shopping is my addiction, and I hate cold weather. I'm also a proud member of Slytherin house (we're not all bad, I swear).
