So what is a Healthy Diet?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UIC chapter.
A healthy diet provides all the nutrients and energy your body needs and it is made up of four major elements.
·      Adequacy
·      Moderation
·      Balance
·      Variety

Creator: When a diet is adequate it means that it provides your body with all the energy, nutrients, fiber, and fluids that will help maintain your health. Remember everything in moderation! Eat the right amounts of food that will help you maintain a healthy weight. If you eat more fat and calories than your body needs you will store the excess energy as fat and gain weight! Eat a balanced diet! Meaning eating the right combinations of foods that will give your body the proper nutrients it needs. Finally include variety in your diet! Eat a lot of different foods since they have different nutrients required by your body.
