Music Blog: This Soundtrack’s On Fire

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UIC chapter.

Movies AND music. Now that’s magic. Soundtrack releases often deserve as much hype as the films for which they exist. The motion picture companion of the second Hunger Games installment is no exception.

Heavy hitting artists from Coldplay, Imagine Dragons and The Lumineers to rising stars like Lorde, The Weeknd and Phantogram provide a powerfully and thematically cohesive yet diverse sounding accompaniment to the film.

Power “couple” Katniss and Peeta voiced their approval at our clandestine chat, ever aware of the Capitol’s control. They relayed a special message for all you readers: enjoy the range of invigorating tracks, and remember who the enemy is (anyone who doesn’t like the soundtrack)!

Don’t forget to slip out to your nearest cinema and see the Games, after you’ve helped with Thanksgiving cleanup, of course!

Meaghan craves music almost as much as a good cup of coffee or a bagel smothered with cream cheese. Therefore, her most significant contribution to HerCampus arises once a week via her "Music Blog" section. Through this column, Meaghan hopes to inform and excite readers, introducing them to a variety of new music and music-related topics. Although difficult to decipher her crystal ball's contents, she would love to be working towards an outlet that combines design, writing, music, fashion, art and entertainment in the future. Obsessions also include the color pink and quoting her favorite films.
