Food For Your Brain

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UIC chapter.

The phrase “you are what you eat” is true. It turns out that there is some food that has chemicals that go directly to your brain cells. These will not only make you smarter, but also improve your memory and help you think more clearly.

First, strawberries have nutrients that will improve your memory. The oxidation process damages the brain cells, so strawberries with their vitamins C, E and beta-Carotone help to counter it. You can also eat raspberries and blueberries to help your memory as well.

Oxidation is not the only problem for our memory as inflammation plays an important role in these cases too and cherries are the best natural medicine you can get. Apples also can protect you from damage to your memory and reduce the risk of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, its amazing!

Lastly, not everything has to be healthy; chocolate is an option too!  It can improve the function of your blood vessels, increasing blood circulation to your brain. Just don’t get carried away and keep it in healthy amounts.
