In Case No One Told You After the Break-Up…

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UIC chapter.

It’s completely normal, this is going to happen in life, and unfortunately, it might not be the only time. It can happen three more times or more times before you finally find something genuine. I know it’s hard, rejection is probably the worst feeling whether it be in regards to love or even in the work-field.

We have to go through it to make us stronger individuals, life isn’t always going to be hot chocolate on a winter night in Chicago. We go through the hard times to appreciate the good. Someone can sit next to you, and read you an entire book of inspirational quotes but even that won’t help. At the end of the day, this letter won’t do much for you either because it’s entirely up to you to make a change.

Life is ALL about your mindset, and no one can alter that for you, even if we wanted to. You are in charge of your own happiness, as cliche as it sounds. We’re only human, it’s okay not to be okay, but eventually, life does go on.

Out of all things bad in this world, you can’t let another individual be the one reason you lose yourself. I can promise you things that seem so important now, will not matter two years from today.

There’s so much to do and so much to take advantage of in this world. Now is a good a time to do anything, you’re in your prime, and time is so valuable. Sitting around moping over someone is a complete waste.

Choose not to be closed-minded, open yourself up to new opportunities, and focus on making yourself a better version of you.
