Be Festive and Stay Cute

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UIC chapter.

Use sparkle in moderation- The highlight of the season is gold and sequins. You can wear a beautiful gold sequined skirt with a simple black shirt or pair cream pants and a metallic gold shirt. A pop of black lace will create an unexpected twist. Everyone notices sparkle, but there is a fine line between flashy and classy. If you have a holiday party to go to, stand out with a sequin dress and simple pumps. Keep the hair and makeup to a minimum and you will shine.

Pop with either red or green- Choose a color to stand out and use the other as an accent. Wear a red sweater and skinny jeans, but make it festive with green earrings. Choose accessories of the opposite color to be fun. You shouldn’t go overboard by wearing red pants and a green shirt. This is too much and will make you look like an elf.

When wearing an ugly Christmas sweater, keep the rest simple- We all love wearing an ugly sweater once a year. But you might not want to look too ridiculous for a family event.  Wear a fun sweater with leggings or jeans. If you bought it at a thrift store make sure it is clean and in good shape. Plaid is a classic choice also if you want to mix patterns with your sweater. Keep it simple but jolly and you will get a lot of attention in a good way!

Whatever you do you don’t want to look like these guys!-
