I am a stationary hoarder. I love having multiple pens, markers, and basically anything stationary, but my all-time obsession is cute notebooks. I will simply buy a notebook based on the layout, the width of the lines, and the design on the cover. I know I am definitely not the only one with this addiction, and I wanted to find ways to make use of those cute notebooks stashed away on my bookshelf. Here are five different ways to make use of an empty notebook:

  1. Bucket Lists

I made one of my bucket lists for New York since I am completely obsessed with the city ever since I was little and for when my entire junior class went on a trip in high school. I also love to read, and there are so many great books out there that make it hard for me to remember the book I want to read, so I made a bucket list to organize the books I wish to read when I get them in my hands. Bucket lists are helpful with basically anything. They can be from books you want to read, to the things you would want to do with your significant other on a trip, or to a different country. They also help you organize places you like and wish to go to someday.

     2. Pen tests

Most of the time when you have a new pen, you want to test it out and end up using a scrap piece of paper. You later have to test it again because you forgot the way it wrote. Having a page in a notebook dedicated to testing your pen will really help when you want to see how a pen’s ink is. It’s like a library of the different pens you have and the way they write.

     3. Meal Planning

If you make dinner every night, and it is hard to do it because of how hectic college life is, you will love this idea to make a planner for the meals you are going to make. Although as a college student, you might be more tempted to make ramen and call it a day, but it doesn’t have to be an elegant meal like you’re at a five-star restaurant. Simply planning meals like spaghetti or left-over pizza works; the planner helps you see if you should cut down on junk food or eat more vegetables.

     4. Health Tracker

If you’re trying to achieve a fitness goal like lose weight or be fit, chances are that you need to track the workouts that you do. An easy way to do this is by planning out when and what workouts you will do on certain days. This will help you accomplish it more than if you would just say what you were going to do because it is physical, and you’ll be able to see your process.

     5. Bullet Journal

A way to combine all of these lists and spreads together in one notebook is bullet journaling. Bullet Journaling is a way to combine lists, plans, goals, and calendar all in one. I made one, and it is definitely a must-have because I am able to keep all my side notes and planner all in one notebook.

I am a first-generation college student who is pursuing a bachelor's degree in communication. I am passionate about social media and the way that it allows us to connect with communities of people all over the world. I like to write about the effects of social media on our day-to-day lives, social media tips to gain followers, lifestyle, food, and things to do in Chicago.
