5 Fun and Inexpensive Dates

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UIC chapter.

Lets face it, dating in college is a hard task. Both you and your significant other have to make time for each other around classes and so much more, which isn’t easy. Then when it comes down to date night, you have little to no money because we are broke college students. Here are a few inexpensive dates that could bring a little flame, for the low on date night.

1. Volunteer at a Pet Shelter:

This is an amazing date because you are helping amazing shelters who take in all the animals they can, and try to find them new and loving homes. Lets be honest, who doesn’t wanna see their boo holding an adorable puppy or kitten?

2. Explore the City!

We live in a gorgeous city with so much to do, why let it go to waste? When you first think about exploring the city, you think its going to cost a lot of money but it doesn’t necessarily have to. The weather is slowly but surely getting warmer and when it does, take your date around Millennium Park, the Beach, or even a walk around Lincoln Park is a site to see. If you have a few dollars to blow, hit a hot dog stand and have a cute and inexpensive picnic.

3. Night Full of Stars

This one is a great date for the warmer days of summer. Late at night just go outside and all you need is a blanket. Lay down and just stare into the sky. Sooner or later someone will break the silence and the conversation will flow and your pockets won’t be crying.

4. Go Mini Golfing or Bowling!

Both of these cost a few dollars but last a few perfect hours. Its kind of a cliche, but you really can’t go wrong!

5. Bake Cookies

Okay, one time or another you have seen this in a movie and it ends in a super cute scene of a food fight. I wouldn’t recommend the food fight because the clean up sucks, but make cookies together and even if it doesn’t end perfectly, you have cookies at the end!
