Prepare for your Last Semester of College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UH chapter.

Graduation season is almost here! It’s a time to be excited, nervous, but also very serious. Graduation marks the beginning of your future. I have gathered a couple of points that hopefully will help ease the transition from undergrad to college graduate.

Plan

What do you plan doing after graduating? Do you plan to attend grad school? Do you plan on getting a job? Or do you plan on taking some time off? These are all questions you should ask yourself before graduating. Having a plan takes a lot of stress of your shoulders. You don’t want to find yourself stuck and not knowing what to do.

Resume

Build your professional resume. You can never forget to write a resume. A resume can help you become a desirable candidate for a job. Your resume should be focused on your experience, skills, and career goals. If you’re not sure what to include in your resume or format, you can always use the career services at school. Career services is a great tool.

Self-Care

Practice self-care. The last semester of college is super stressful. Although you should be focusing on school work and other important matters, remember to take care of yourself. Your health and wellbeing is the most important. Take time to recharge. Eat well, exercise, sleep well, rest, and take the time to things that make you happy.

Graduation Gear

Buy your graduation gear early if you plan on attending graduation commencement. Graduation regalia such as stole and cords will probably need to be purchased online. Make sure you purchase these early so you get them on time. Buy your cap and gown. If you want to buy a ring, also make sure you do this on time. I also suggest planning your graduation outfit early. Looking for an outfit during a time crunch can be pretty stressful.

I’m sure you will do great. Congrats grad!
