Kendal Isber: Breaking Glass Ceilings

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

Kendal Isber is a second year Political Science and International Affairs major. She was born and raised in Effingham, GA which is a little town outside of Savannah. You can find her running around campus, watching Stranger Things for the fifth time or sleeping. Stay tuned to learn more about the next Hillary Clinton!

What are some things you’re involved in on campus?

I’m an active member of UGA Young Dems, Free the Girls, University Union, and I am an intern for a local campaign.

What is your favorite Athens restaurant?

Clocked, for sure. The garlic dijon dipping sauce is amazing and there are so many burger options to choose from.

What are your future career plans post grad?

Post grad I plan to go to law school, so wherever that may take me. Hopefully, it’s a fast track to the House/Senate, then the Presidency (a girl can dream).

How do you think being a woman will affect your career path?

Obviously politics and law are male dominated fileds, so that in itself is a challenge. I think my being a woman will make it harder for me to be taken seriously in the profession i’m seeking but also on the flip side, as more and more women start to break into the political field it keeps me hopeful that people are becoming more open minded. Regardless of my gender, breaking into those fields takes work and dedication so that’s what i’m going to focus on.

What is one thing at UGA that has had a significant impact on your experience?

A good roommate freshman year is essential. I’m so lucky to have gotten along so well with my roommate; we’re still really good friends now. If you have a bad roommate it can just facilitate negativity and cause stress that you don’t need as a freshman.

What do you like to do for fun?

I’m very into live music, and going to concerts, I also like reading, anything fiction. Also, netflix and napping, the two essential activities of a college student.

What is the best album you’ve heard recently?

Can I say Hamilton? Because that would be it. No, FMA by Grace is really good. Also Wild World by Bastille was just released and it’s great.

Who is your ultimate celebrity crush?

Leonardo DiCaprio, hands down.

Caitlyn is a fourth year student at the University of Georgia. She is pursuing a double degree in journalism and women's studies with a new media certificate and an interdisciplinary writing certificate. She is the Campus Correspondent for Her Campus UGA. Caitlyn spends her free time drinking tea, being a book worm, and imagining new fictional characters to write about.
