Expectations Vs Reality Of Friendsgiving

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

Everyone dreams of the perfect F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Thanksgiving when it comes to Friendsgiving.

But sadly, sometimes it turns out to be more like Charlie Brown’s thanksgiving feast.

Here are the expectations vs reality of Friendsgiving:

Expectation: Everyone is able to come together

Reality: It’s hard to coordinate when everyone is free

We have experienced this personally at Her Campus UGA, but any Friendsgiving is hard to coordinate especially busy college students. In order to avoid this, plan in advance when are you going host your Friendsgiving. So this give your friends a chance to make sure that they are free and have nothing else going on.

Expectation: Having the perfect dinner decor

Reality: Nobody notices how nice your decorations are

Everybody loves fall décor. Cute leaves on the tables, pumpkins and gourds everywhere, pilgrims, etc. But honestly, you don’t have to go overboard with the decorations. A cute centerpiece could honestly do the trick, and it could even be a bouquet of fall flowers.

Expectation: Trying out a Pinterest recipe

Reality: You have failed miserable

It takes more than one try to get a Pinterest recipe just right. Especially if it’s one of those chocolate turkeys. Don’t be mad and give up. If it’s your first time, try to find a simpler recipe you can attempt. Once you conquer that, you can conquer any recipe your Pinterest heart desires.

Expectations: You score the winning touchdown during a game of football

Reality: You can’t play football

Thanksgiving isn’t Thanksgiving without a little football. Don’t let the boys have all the fun with it. Brush up on a few skills beforehand, and try your best. Besides, it is all fun and games.

Expectation: The high quality of food

Reality: The low quality of food

When we think about Thanksgiving, we think about all the food that we are going to receive. However, we realize that we are asking people who only knows how to cook ramen noodles (some people cannot even do that). In order to prepare for that, make a google doc so everyone can write what they are bringing. Maybe even write down store-bought suggestions to make cooking easier for everyone.

Happy Friendsgiving everyone!
