Georgia fans were flying high on a nine game win streak that they thought would become a ten game win streak and possibly an undefeated season. But the bigger they are, the harder they fall, and man did Georgia fall hard this weekend.  A 40-17 final score has left the Bulldawg nation bruised, battered, and retreating to Athens with our tails between our legs.  But let’s also remember that even though we have had some tough losses, at least we never lost to Auburn off of a field goal kick returned for a touchdown *cough the kick six of the 2013 Iron Bowl*.

For those of you that are now in utter despair after this loss, let’s not forget the seasons of 2015 or 2016 or most of the seasons that anyone at UGA can remember.  As far as most are concerned, this 9-0 record was obviously too good to be true for anyone who has been a Georgia fan for more than the past 6 months.  Especially considering we haven’t had an undefeated season since 1980.

This hardship has just made us an underdawg for our next big game in the SEC Championship.  And to anyone who was wondering if this loss would take us out of the SEC Championship, you probably aren’t as informed about football as you thought since we already clinched the East and the SEC West is really where the toss up is.

Now that we have two more games before the SEC Championship, we have time to drag ourselves out of the hole that we have created, but we can’t forget the fact that Alabama almost lost to Mississippi State this weekend as well.  It took until the last two minutes for them to take the lead and even then, there was question of it they would hold it.

With this being said, there is still hope for our college football playoff rankings.  Let’s also just take a moment of silence for Notre Dame being beat even worse than we were.  Clearly it is anyone’s game right now.  The Alabama vs. Auburn game next weekend leading to the decision of the second SEC Championship team will give better insight as to how the playoffs are going to look, and the UGA nation is on the edge of its seat waiting.

For all those freshman who are experiencing their first heartbreak as a student of the University of Georgia, consider yourself lucky that it was not a heartbreaking loss during the same week as midterms or a tough loss at home because trust me when I say that those are even harder, *cough Alabama cough*.

We lost to the 10th ranked team in the nation, it still is not as painful as the 2013 season when we lost to Clemson, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Auburn, and Nebraska all in one season.  There is still hope to being in the College Football Playoffs, and we are still in the SEC Championship where we will get a real second chance to prove that we are the best team in the SEC and in the nation.

So do we still want Bama?  Hell ya, we do.
