5 Most Overrated Romance Movies

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

We’re girls. Yes, we love a good romance movie just like anyone else who calls herself a collegiette but, sometimes, we get a little tired of watching the ordinary, over-watched “chick flicks” that we’ve spent years hearing everyone praise. In case you needed a little reminder of what movies we’re hinting at, we put together a short list of the most overrated romance movies we’ve ever seen.

1. The Notebook (2004)

Sure, it’s the epitome of chick flicks. But, come on, we’d rather see Ryan Gosling in something else.

2. A Walk to Remember (2002)

Don’t get us wrong. It totally made us cry, but it’s still a bit of a cliché.

3. 13 Going on 30 (2004)

A thirty-year-old goes back to being thirteen to find the love of her life. Yeah, right.

4. The Time Traveler’s Wife (2009)

We just couldn’t get into this. Not even in a “time-travel-is-cool” kind of way. #sorrynotsorry

5. Valentine’s Day (2010)

It was just too cheesy and couldn’t be the same as Love, Actually.
