10 Subscription Boxes You Need in Your Life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

Getting a package in the mail is like getting a present. Well… a present you bought for yourself, but hey, it feels good to open up something you’ve been waiting for. The only thing is, there’s no element of surprise. Wait, what if you could make the package’s contents unknown, but still ensure it would come? Hello? Subscription boxes! They’re fun, exciting, and who said you can’t spoil yourself a little bit? They have these gems for all interests so go ahead and buy one, or ten.

1. Pusheen Box

Who’s Pusheen? She’s everyones favorite little gray tabby cat of course, and now she has a subscription box all her own. If you’re obsessed with her online comics or just want to be enlightened with feline cuteness, you need this in your life. Inside are exclusive goodies of all kinds, including clothes, stationary and toys. These items are not available anywhere else, and you’ll get a box every three months.

2. Ipsy

This subscription box created by Michelle Phan gives members a monthly Glam Bag filled with five beauty products every month. What’s not to love?

3. Vegan Cuts

Snacks, beauty and makeup: What could be better? Oh yeah, if it were vegan and tested before so you’re sure to enjoy it all. In the snack box you’ll find anything from cookies, candy, chips, and drinks, so now you can easily find your new vegan snacks without having to taste test everything in EarthFare. What’s even better are the beauty and makeup boxes. You’ll never have to read the makeup ingredients list in the aisles again, and in the makeup box, you’ll recieve full-sized products.

4. Lit Kit

“Born of the wet streets and dusty bookstores of San Francisco, LitKit is a monthly subscription box lovingly crafted to delight devotees of experimental literature, creative writing, and pen-and-ink publishing.” If you love books, this one’s for you. Inside is a collection of all things fit for a bibliophile, including selections of experimental literature whether its fiction or poetry, along with pens and bookmaking supplies. Also included are writing prompts, postcards and various other writing inspiration.

5. Cocotique

This is a subscription service for women of color and diverse ethnicities, and is filled with sample- and full-size skin, fragrance, hair care, nail and lifestyle products. At only $20 a month, this box is practically a steal.

6. The Incense Box

Smell good, feel good. Choose this if you want a box full of essential oils, incense, or both. Perfect for anyone looking to bask in relaxing aromas.

7. Kawaii Box

It’s so cute I can’t take it! Includes 10-12 adorable items shipped from Japan and Korea, all so kawaii you’ll cry. Past boxes include items such as candy, stationary, accessories from brands like Hello Kitty, Rilakkuma and Sanrio.

8. Dia & Co Box

Attention plus size ladies, this one’s just for you. Shopping can’t be any easier than getting clothes based on your style, fit and preference in the mail each month. What’s even better is that if you’re just not into what you get, they’ll gladly accept your returns. Think, you never have to leave the house to shop, and can try pieces on in the comfort of home sweet home. Sounds pretty great to me.

9. Happy Mail and Messy Box

Get out your pens. If you’re at all charmed by stationary, these subscription boxes (both from A Beautiful Mess) are right up your alley. Messy Box contains products great for journaling, including washi tape, stickers, and patterned paper, while Happy Mail is mostly full of cards with some notepads and stickers thrown in.

10. CAUSEBOX

Every quarter you’ll get an assortment of 5-8 socially conscious products, while helping support artisans from around the world and empowering others. A percent of profits is donated to charity and the products in each box help provide food, jobs and education to numerous individuals in various places across the globe.
