Only in college can you grab some friends and pile into the car for a weekend of road trip spontaneity. With so many fun events taking place in the Southeast, spring semester is the perfect time to explore. Get out your planners, collegiettes; It’s time to roll down the windows, crank up the music and hit the road.

 
Boxing Weekend: University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tenn.
March 8-10
Hosted by the Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter at the University Of Tennessee, Boxing Weekend is a 3-day boxing tournament. Fraternity men train for months leading up to the tournament in which hopefuls slug it out in each weight class to win a coveted champion’s belt. Students from all over the South come to watch the tournament, which made the list for Sports Illustrated’s “102 Things You Gotta Do Before You Graduate,” and enjoy the party atmosphere.

Carolina Cup: Camden, S.C.
March 31
One of the spring’s preppiest events, the Carolina Cup is a horserace that has taken place in South Carolina for 80 years. Although it’s fun to watch the horses, the real fun is in picking the outfit. Bowties and big hats are a staple at the Carolina Cup. You’ll undoubtedly leave the event with good memories and even better pictures.

Alpha Psi Rodeo: Auburn University, Auburn, Ala.
April 14
Rodeo is a huge outdoor tailgate with live animals and old-fashioned country music. Easton Corbin and Eric Church are playing at this year’s event. The crowd regularly reaches more than 10,000 people, mostly college students from schools all over the Southeast. Proceeds from the event’s ticket sales benefit different animal-related causes each year.

Rites of Spring Music Festival: Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn.
April 20-21
Rites of Spring is an outdoor music festival on Vanderbilt University’s alumni lawn. The lineup, which will be announced Feb. 22, usually boasts a wide variety of popular music. Past performers include Drake, Jerrod Niemann, Passion Pit, Lady Antebellum and more. The concert is a celebration of warm weather, good music and the end of the semester.
