Chanae Forshee: Involvement Maven

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Every year, freshmen enter our campus looking for ways to get involved. They search for organizations that will be a perfect fit for their personalities. This was Chanae Forshee three years ago.
Now, the third year family, youth and community science major has definitely found her home away from home on campus.
Forshee is currently President of FYCS Club and a member of Campus Diplomats, SAVANT Leadership Honorary, Faces Modeling Troupe, Inc. and the Florida Invitational Step Show.
Although her resume is impeccable now, it did not start this way. Forshee knew that she wanted to be involved but she did not know where to start.
“Coming into college I decided that I wanted to be actively involved at the university,” Forshee said. “So I decided to attend an organization fair and looked into the organizations that sparked interest in me. From there one thing leads to another and now I’m super involved!”
Forshee enjoys her busy schedule.
“My day is always busy,” she states.
According to Forshee, everyone should be involved in an organization on campus.
“Organizations not only allow for networking opportunities, but it allows students to gain confidence working with others which will definitely come in hand in the future,” she said.
Forshee has definitely put her networking skills to good use. The junior already has two internships. This spring she will be interning for Senator Oscar Braynon in Tallahassee and this summer in Washington, D.C. though Georgetown University.
When asked what she enjoys the most about being so involved she said, “being able to give back to the community.”
“The FYCS Club prides itself on being able to give back to the Gainesville community. Through this organization I have been able to touch so many lives,” she said. “We have helped many families through the service projects we have participated in. They’ve been very rewarding to say the least.”
For those students who are looking for ways to get involved now, Forshee is a perfect example of how to get a great start. She truly loves every organization she is involved in.
“They’re all my family away from home” she said. That is the feeling every student should feel about involvement.
