Oh, To Be Young Again...What I Miss From High SchoolBy April 14, 2013 - 12:37pm Spring has sprung, and as campus floods with prospective students wandering wide-eyed beneath hovering parents, I cannot help but remember my own pre-college experiences. My first reaction is a shiver of disgust, as memories of catty friend drama and GPA stress rear their ugly heads. But beneath that disdainful surface, I recently discovered that there were several parts of high school that were just plain AWESOME, and, unfortunately, will never happen again. Here is my personal list--in no particular order: READ MORE |

With Coachella this weekend and next, then Stagecoach and a slew of other great festivals, HerCampus wants you to look your flower-child best! Now is the time you can shamelessly promote yourself as a hipster, the one time of year that its totally acceptable to wear tribal inspired face paint and what would normally be considered an inappropriate amount of fringe! Pros and Cons of Spring RecruitmentBy April 8, 2013 - 2:59pm Everyone knows that Sorority Recruitment is a whirlwind of hundreds of different girls, faces, names, and conversations. What most people do not know about recruitment is that the process is equally stressful and anxiety-evoking on both sides of the process--for the Recruiters and the Recruitees. However, this process is also immensely exciting and enjoyable, as you are given the opportunity to meet and speak with a variety of different girls--all with amazing personalities and great stories to tell. With Spring Recruitment quickly approaching, I feel that it is necessary to explicate how different Spring Recruitment is from Fall Recruitment. Spring Recruitment harbors both advantages and drawbacks, as Fall Recruitment does as well.... |

10 People You Will Encounter During DeltopiaBy April 4, 2013 - 3:28am With Spring Quarter in full swing and Deltopia right around the corner, now is the optimal time to take a refresher course in the characters we will be encountering on Saturday. For those of you who don’t know, Deltopia is a giant day party that takes place on the streets of Del Playa in which every block of DP in this fair city hides their valuables, orders a few kegs, and brings out their speakers. Many of these parties persist into the darkness—but only the true party champions make it past sunset. Deltopia summons a vast variety of the human species, so take a look at what you will be seeing on Saturday: 1. The Out-of-Towner READ MORE |

Her Campus Chats with Fallen RivieraBy March 17, 2013 - 7:38pm I recently got the chance to chat with the up-and-coming band Fallen Riviera during the Santa Barbara stop of their tour. They are a witty and good-looking crew--honestly, these guys could suck and I would still fancy them. When have you ever joked about being half-pelican or what the hot sauce scene is like in England with the band before their show? (Member Will is from England--apparently, Tabasco is as far they go across the pond). Anyways, the guys were nice enough to answer a few questions, and even gave me a copy of their CD for my listening pleasure. Good news: they rock, they’re hilarious, Aviv plays some mad tambourine (and has a cool lip piercing), and they’ll be coming back to SB soon! READ... |

Spring Into Break with Rent The RunwayBy March 15, 2013 - 4:04pm With only a week left of school, Her Campus UCSB can almost see the spring break light at the end of this finals tunnel. Between highlighting class readers, rushing to buy blue books, and finalizing tropical spring break getaways, collegiates spend enough time (and money!) worrying about planning the perfect sun-filled spring break. Factor in buying a trendy wardrobe that is essential for any spring break getaway, and college girls everywhere will definitely be receiving annoying balance notifications from their bank and very angry voicemails from parents (sorry, Dad!). The Real Meanings Behind Outrageously Obnoxious Facebook StatusesBy March 14, 2013 - 8:41pm If only social media outlets such as Facebook required people to pass a test or acquire some sort of “user license.” We’ve all seen it—meticulous, dramatic, and just plain obnoxious Facebook statuses. So what is going on? Do these Facebook abusers actually believe that what they are posting is acceptable or can, by any human being, be deemed interesting? I know Dead Week has us all feeling a bit morose, so here is a list of generic, and overly used, Facebook statuses that can make us feel better about ourselves! 1. "Shoot for the moon, and even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." [or insert any other cliché quote here] READ MORE |
