Flosstradamus in the HUB

  Monday nights can get a little dull except when your AS Program Board decides to put on a show to shake up your weekday routine. As everyone recovers from Coachella and starts impatiently waiting for Extravaganza,   AS Program Board has brought Flosstradamus to UCSB to keep your spring lineup going. Presale tickets are only $15 and are $24 at the door for students. The doors open at 8 and the beer garden is open for anyone 21 and over. The concert is open to the public so you and your non UCSB friends can enjoy a night that’ll bring you back to your memories of Ultra, Coachella and many of the other festivals Flosstradamus has performed at. FeelGood SB Hunger Banquet 2013

As dead week continues to drain the life out of the students of UCSB with its countless hours under the harsh, florescent lights of the library, it is safe to say that we could all use a break. This Thursday, you can enjoy a yummy dinner that will benefit not only your hunger status but help raise awareness of the world hunger epidemic. Feel Good SB is holding their Hunger Banquet 2013, and tickets are $5 presale and $7 at the door. They’ll be serving their traditional grilled cheeses that they sell on DP during the weekends, along with Woodstock’s cinnabread, salads, and cookies. Their hope is that you can learn about how you can help end world hunger one grilled cheese at a time. READ MORE

Yeehaw! Country Night

  With Stagecoach months away, a night of country music and dancing might be just what you need. This Friday, the UCSB Country Dancing Club along with The Hub is putting on, Yeehaw! Country Night. Students can enjoy a night of music and dancing for free as the top country hits are played throughout the night. Doors open at 7:30 and the Beer Garden will be open and ready to serve anyone 21 and over. Enjoy your favorite country crooners without anyone trying to change the music back to techno beats.  Who knows, switching up your routine Friday nights in IV for a night of good ol’ country fun could be exactly the distraction you need before going into dead week! Father John Misty

  For a night of indie rock downtown, check out Father John Misty at the SOhO on February 1st. Doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 9pm. The former member of Fleet Foxes will be ending his US tour in Santa Barbara before heading out on his Australian tour. Father John Misty’s first solo album, Fear Fun, has an indie-festival feel with subtle psychedelic undertones. Tickets are available at the door and online for only $15. The show is 21+ so make sure to remember your IDs. Adam+ Binki, whose first album will be released Jan. 29th, will also be performing. Downtown Holiday Parade

  It can be almost impossible spending the holidays away from family. It’s hard to fit a huge Christmas tree in a tiny rooms and dead week isn’t all that merry. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to celebrate the holidays.  This Friday, the annual Downtown Holiday Parade will be held on State Street. The parade starts just after dark at 6:30 pm. It’s one of the largest events held on State Street and it gets crowded quickly so make sure to get there early. Make a night of it and get dinner and go shopping downtown with your friends.
