Another week, another series of indubitably uncomfortable encounters. Every day our dignity trips over our second left foot, steps in gum, and runs into screen doors, allowing embarrassment to yet again prevail. Welcome to another week of our unfortunately awkward lives:  READ MORE

Reality Show Recap: "What Would Lochte Do?"

By Kate Slaughter
May 4, 2013 - 8:37pm

A new show aired on E! following the life of Olympic swimmer and total babe Ryan Lochte. The series is titled, "What Would Lochte Do?" After watching the first two episodes, I can say that the answer is always: act like a douche. Don't get me wrong--I love Lochte. Despite always falling short of swim-prodigy Phelps in the water, Lochte easily makes up for it in looks. The guy's a total 10--tall, tan, and chiseled to perfection. He's everything a girl could want in a guy...just as long as he isn't speaking or attempting anything that requires common sense. READ MORE

Party with Jay: Great Gatsby Soundtrack

By Jenna Harvey
May 2, 2013 - 2:16am

Scandalous. It’s a word synonymous with Gatsby, and now with the lust-worthy soundtrack to the upcoming film. When you think of huge Blockbuster movies, the soundtrack is rarely the most exciting part. But, when The Great Gatsby hits theaters later this month, the Baz Luhrmann spectacular will boast one of the most impressive soundtracks to date. Instead of sticking to a time-accurate soundtrack of jazz music, the movie utilizes music giants such as Beyonce, Jay Z, and Andre 3000 to create the feeling of badass luxury that Gatsby was all about. Tales From Our Awkward Lives

Grace and poise are two innate qualities that young ladies are expected to possess. Years of National Charity League tea parties and countless, painful Cotillions have taught us this. However, as we matured, these qualities did not seem to grow with us. Nevertheless, we are very optimistic people. As Chumba Wumba so eloquently chants, "I get knocked down, but I get up again." We like to think that all of the pathetic, everyday occurrences we experience could serve as entertainment to outside observers. As we shamelessly live our lives, toilet paper trailing off of our shoes and bird poop always seeming to find the tops of our heads, we can rest easy knowing that we are boosting the self-esteem of someone else out there....

You have finally made the decision to go to the college of your dreams—congratulations! But, now, your next big task is at hand--what the heck to bring with you! Lauren's Beauty Blog: Splatter Nails

By Lauren Briand
April 9, 2013 - 2:58am

I’ve never done splatter nail art before, but I have always thought it looked really cool so I wanted to try it out. How hard could it be? Wrong. So wrong. This was definitely one of the hardest manicures that I have tried before. Don't get me wrong--it turned out very well--I just thought the manicure took an awful lot of time for how messy and carefree it's supposed to look. Then again, maybe I was doing it totally wrong.   What you’ll need: a base color, 3 accent colors (1 should be metallic or sparkly), and nail polish remover.   *Note: You should probably do this outside or somewhere that you don’t care about being messy because the splatters from the nail polish get everywhere.   READ MORE...

March 14, 2013 - 2:16am

You know that you should be studying for your finals next week, but you can't help fantasizing about your Spring Break plans instead. Even though that 7-page paper needs to get done before you can start packing, you just can’t help but think about which bikini you are going to wear in [insert vacation destination] this year or how many crop tops will make it into your suitcase before your luggage surpasses the dreaded 40 lb limit. While I can’t help with the finals part, I can give you some advice about where to get the cutest bikinis without breaking the bank...which for us college students is little to nothing. Here are some fashionable looks that you should go for no matter what destination you find yourself in over Spring Break:  ...

With the weather warming up it's time for a fun manicure that will get you ready for spring! This mani is so easy to do, just follow these quick steps for your own daisy nail art: You Will Need: Base color, white or accent color for flowers, jewels, topcoat, a piece of paper, and a paper clip 1. Paint your nails with your base color (I used a light purple by Sephora OPI). 2. After your base color is mostly dry, put some of the accent color on a piece of paper and unfold one of the ends of the paper clip. Use the round end of the paper clip to make the dots and flowers.   We have all been there- it’s less than a week before a big event and you have nothing to wear (read: you already have pictures in all the dresses you own so they don’t count).
