Moving from a parent's home to a college dorm can be an overwhelming transition for many UCSB Freshmen.  Not only are students suddenly making their own rules and curfews, but they are also living a completely new lifestyle.  The Resident Assistants at UCSB work to ease this transition, while also serving as a role model and enforcer for their residents.  This week, HerCampus UCSB had a chance to talk to Rosana Liang about her experiences as a Manzanita RA for the 2010-2011 school year.

Freshmen Summer Start Program 2011

The Freshman Summer Start Program (FSSP) is an exciting summer opportunity for admitted UCSB freshmen to get a head start on taking courses and making a smooth transition into UCSB! During this condensed summer term, students can enroll in 7-13 units of coursework (with over 70 lower division courses to chose from) and can start getting familiar with campus before the rush of students come fall.  With faculty lunches, field trips and other activities, students get several opportunities to meet and interact with some of the great faculty members on campus! FSSP also helps students get familiar with different campus services, including the library, the Career Center, EOP, the Wellness Program, Student Health and many more!
