Winter Fashion That Fits the Weather

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

Living in LA has quite the perks. There are so many fun things to do and the weather is absolutely AMAZING. A typical Los Angeles winter rarely gets below 60 degrees Fahrenheit; so here’s a dilemma…how does one keep up with the latest winter trends if the typical winter day is 70 degrees Fahrenheit? (Heck, people still wear sandals during this time of year!) Well don’t fret, dear readers, Her Campus UCLA is here to solve the problem.

The KEY to dressing for LA winters is LAYERING. I’m talking about cardigans over shirts over camisoles; that sort of stuff. It is typically chilly in the morning and at night; however, it does get pretty sweaty during the day. SO if you’re out all day, layer your clothing!

ALSO, shorts can totally be winter appropriate! The latest winter trends come with leather or tweed shorts with dark colors that are associated with winter.

Sweaters can also be LA winter friendly. They are great when paired with shorts and boots! Oversized, airy, and flowy sweaters complement the weather here!

The right kind of accessories also factor into how to dress for LA winters. A nice bag in a subdued tone such as black or dark brown really sets the wintery mood. Scarves and headbands that are deep and rich in jewel tone and earthy colors also work very well. And as always, gold jewelry complements just about any outfit.
