Westwood Restaurant Review…The Apple Pan

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

Located by Westside Pavilion Mall, the Apple Pan is a restaurant you don’t want to miss.  Unlike the modern, trendy style of many restaurants located in the LA area, the Apple Pan has a very laid back, welcoming feel to it.  My favorite part about eating dinner at the Apple Pan is that everything from the layout of the restaurant to the food to the service to the menu is simple!  From the outside, the Apple Pan looks like a quaint cottage and from the inside, the restaurant takes on an All-American diner feel so you instantly feel relaxed and at home while you are there.  The menu that has only a few items on it (which consists of staples such as the steak burger, a ham sandwich, and of course apple pie), but everything is cooked according to family recipes and is delicious!  Their burgers truly rival In-n-Out and other top burger competitors in my opinion.  The restaurant seating is limited because it is an open kitchen, so all of the tables in the restaurant are situated in a rectangular shape around the kitchen.  There isn’t much that is fancy about the Apple Pan, but that is what makes it great!

If you go, you must get the steak burger.  It comes wrapped in paper, without a plate which only makes it easier to eat and equally as delicious.  Overall I was thoroughly impressed with the service, atmosphere, and quality of food at the Apple Pan.  If you are looking for an excuse to get out of Westwood and the overall aura of the Los Angeles and transport yourself to the feel of a Midwestern diner, the Apple Pan is definitely a much welcomed change of pace.
