HC: Do you have a job on campus?

HC: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

GV: Right now, I would travel to Cuba because my sister just came back from Cuba and it looked so fun and amazing. I would also love to travel there because of the country’s history. As my sister said in her Instagram caption, “The country where time was forgotten.” The country’s history and culture is so rich and I think that Cuba would be such an experience.

HC: What does female empowerment mean to you?

GV: Female empowerment is represented in many ways. It is no doubt that women are strong individuals who can accomplish and help other women accomplish incredible achievements. Women who help others and stand up for others empower them to be and do better. To empower women means to advocate for their well-being in all aspects. It means that a woman can live in an environment where she has control of her decision-making and holds the right for equality. But female empowerment is also seen in less obvious and spoken ways – in ways that are underappreciated. When a woman takes on a role that is deemed “weak” or “ideal for a woman,” it is empowering. Why? Because it takes strong women to be able to take on these roles that are despised by others. It is empowering when we see women take on these responsibilities and show just how strong and capable and worthy they are – just how worthy any woman is.
