How to Spend Valentine’s Day on a Budget

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

With Valentine’s Day approaching, a few thoughts start racing in your head, such as how the day should be spent. However, if you are on a tight budget, it may be difficult to go through expenses for your significant other.  Fortunately for you, here are some ideas that help with budgeting all while still being able to have the day you want.

1. Staying home is a great place to spend Valentine’s Day, even if you might think otherwise. You and your date for the day can watch a movie, cook dinner and spend some quality time together. You don’t have to dress up for a romantic time together, unless that is part of the fun at home.

2. Enjoy some entertainment in the City of Angels. From taking a walk at Universal Studios City to enjoying cultural art museums, there are so many things that Los Angeles offers that you might not be aware of. Take some time to research places that are offer discounted entrance fees or possible free entertainment.

3. Volunteering is a perfect way to spend time together while doing a service for the community. With the Los Angeles Marathon taking place on Valentine’s Day, you and your significant other can provide food and water for the runners and provide support. There is nothing more amazing at one of Los Angeles’s biggest event of the year.

4. Spend some time looking through old pictures together. The nostalgia will be a great conversation starter and you can talk about what you enjoyed on the specific day or even the little things you remember. It is a great reminder of why you love your significant other.
