Halloween is just around the corner, and as they said in Mean Girls, this is the one time of the year where girls can wear absolutely whatever and get away from it. Therefore, the most important part of this holiday is finding the hottest costume and the hottest party to show it off at.

As Bruinettes, we don’t always have time to dedicate to finding “the perfect outfit”. Whether it’s being on a college budget, or being in the middle of midterms (great timing isn’t it?), I’m here to give you all some easy costume ideas that can both turn heads and be ready to go with just a little bit of improvisation and a lot of creativity!

Last weekend signaled the official beginning of Halloween parties in Westwood, and these Bruinettes were ready to go with their costumes despite it being eleven days until the clock struck Halloween!

Left to Right:
Heineken Girl: Combine your favorite tee that’s been lingering around your closet. Whether Heineken Beer, a superhero, or a favorite sports team, accompany the tee with a matching slim fitting skirt (go for a fun color—you can wear black out any night!), and a pair of sassy wedges or knee-high boots to give it that extra wow-factor.

Risky Business: Put together a loose white button up shirt (if you don’t have one, ask your boyfriend or that cute boy down the hall you’ve been looking for an excuse to talk to) which some short workout shorts. Pair this with high white socks, Ray-Bans (or fake ones…they can be found really cheap at local costume stores). You can even add your own special touch like a funky tie or a backwards snapback.

-Bunny: Pick your favorite color—pink, white, gray, or even black and go for it. All it takes is a pair of bunny ears to make every guy wish he was Hugh Hefner. Find a pink slim skirt with a light pink long-sleeved top; or bring out that furry white vest that you still haven’t had the perfect place to wear with a pair of white short shorts. Maybe even add some furry Ugg boots to add to the soft, fuzzy look.

Santa..or one of his helpers: Bring out the Santa Clause hat! And add absolutely anything red or green to make yourself a holiday. It’s a great conversation starter and you’ll probably meet a guy dressed up as a different holiday too. If you’re looking for that extra kick, find some battery-packed Christmas lights and wrap them around you..you’ll be glowing (literally)!

Winter Wonderland: Time to become a Winter Wonderland and find a hottie to warm you up! Go for colors like white, silver, sequined, and glittery! Accompany a sleek dress with a headband, white or silver wedges, and ice-y makeup (think of dramatic pale pink or nude lips, white eyeliner, and soft glitter).

-America: Sweet land of liberty! If you’re celebrating Halloween in America, you best be sure that dressing up as an American will have people loving on your costume all night. Pull together your hottest red, white, and blue pieces with some conversation-starting accessories to have every boy singing the Star Spangled Banner! Suggestions: a fitted red or blue skirt with a loose sweater and a hot combat boot. Pair this with an American-flag hat (retro or vintage will make this look even more authentic).
