Presenting this week’s Her Campus UCLA Campus Cutie: Kyle DeCamp!

Major: Political Science

Hometown: San Gabriel, California

In your opinion, what’s the best quality to look for in a person (guy or girl)?

That’s difficult to say – but I do honestly believe that it’s important to find someone who has the ability to connect with someone else’s sense of humor. If you can’t laugh together, then what do you have?

If you had a Patronus (a protective apparition from the Harry Potter series), what would it be and why?

I think it would have to be a duck. I don’t have any real reason, but I just like ducks, and I feel it works for me.

Let’s say that you put your iPod on shuffle. What’s the most embarassing song that would come up?

Oh boy, you’re going to judge me. It’s “Seven Things” by Miley Cyrus.

What do you do in your free time at UCLA?

Honestly, I spend pretty much all my time either playing video games, or doing mock trial with UCLA’s Mock Trial team. Between those two things, it’s pretty much just sleeping, eating, and the occasional pick-up soccer game.

What’s your favorite TV show as of this moment, and what character on it do you relate to the most?

I love “Parks and Rec”. I think I’m actually a combination of two characters on it, Tom and Jerry. Jerry is basically just the nice guy who’s hanging out, trying to make everybody happy. But Tom, he manages to be both really confident, and yet have insecurities at the same time, so I’d have to say there’s a little bit of both of them in me.

If you’re in the kitchen, what’s on the menu?

I’m a man of simple tastes; it’s Easy Mac or Frosted Flakes for me!

Do you have a favorite book?

My favorite series, without a doubt, is the series “His Dark Materials”, by Philip Pullman. I’d even rank it above Harry Potter.

How would you describe the iconic Bruin experience?

I know it sounds cliche, but I think it’s pretty different for everyone, but with a couple of common variables. Those are meeting new people with new ideas, getting to know them, and having a ridiculous amount of fun while doing it.
