Beverly Hills On a Budget

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

The glitz and glam of L.A on a college budget!

With midterms coming to an end, we’re all feeling the need to get-off campus. For the four-day weekend, why not take a daytrip to Beverly Hills, home of the rich and famous? However, you don’t have to be wealthy or famous to have a rich experience with these tips.

Cheap Dining: Where else, other than Beverly Hills can you find dinner options such as “Egg custard with truffles and garnished with 24kt gold” or “Cotton Candy Foie Gras”? Luckily there are much less and even free places to get some quality cuisine.

Sprinkles ATM:  The world’s first cupcake ATM serves up freshly baked cupcakes and cookies 24/7. The price tag of $3.75 for a single however may make some turn up their nose. Thankfully, Sprinkles has just released a new perk program which gives all members one free cupcake. Sweet.

Sugarfina:

Speaking of sweet things this candy boutique has a collection that spans the world. Do champagne gummy bears, imported from Germany, made with Dom Pérignon Vintage Champagne sound appealing? Well don’t fret over the price, you can get free samples.

Urth Café:

Looking for something more substantial than a cupcake? Look no further, Urth Café offers an expansive menu, including sandwiches made on “rustic bread, served with farm fresh-locally grown mixed greens salad” for only nine dollars. Count us in! Most importantly, the best part of Urth would have to be the people watching, which in Beverly Hills is unlike anywhere else.

Rodeo Drive: You can window shop to you hearts content. See this seasons latest fashions at Dolce and Gabbana, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel and many more. Don’t be afraid to walk inside either, for all they know you’re a millionaire who likes to dress as a college kid. (PS: the window displays are opulent.)

Beverly Gardens Park: Why not take a stroll at the park ( and take a million selfies with the Iconic Beverly Hills sign). It boasts numerous  art sculptures, a Cactus Garden and Rose Garden, the Wilshire Electric Fountain, the Doheny Fountain and a lily pond.

Greystone Mansion: If you still feel like walking around, visit this historical landmark. Its gardens are in immaculate condition. Special events, including musical and theatrical performances, are held throughout the year for free or discounted prices. (PS: parts of Batman where filmed here)

Have a luxurious time!
