Best Study Spots In Westwood

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but every time I walk into Powell I feel my heart sink a little bit. As I stare out at the sea of students intently staring at their computer screens as they type furiously attempting to finish yet another paper or the study room of a group of a people scratching their heads at the complicated equation on the white board in front of them, it’s hard not to feel stressed and suffocated.

If you’re like me and have come to realize that maybe the library just isn’t for you, I have great news for you! The campus isn’t your only option to find a place to cram for your midterms. Just because you have to study doesn’t mean it has to be in a library surrounded by stacks of old books. You can always find a place with a nice view, good food, and maybe a little bit of relaxing music. That being said, here’s your guide to the best study spots in Westwood!

1) Coffeebean & Tea Leaf:
Located right on Westwood Boulevard, this coffeehouse isn’t too far from campus. Complete with little café table, large windows, outdoor seating, and free Wifi this is the perfect place to study while enjoying a latte! Bonus? It’s not at all too far from campus! So come bring your books, grab yourself a table, and lose yourself in your books as you inhale the comforting aroma of coffee! Only down side? It can get pretty crowded in the late afternoons, so it might be a little difficult to find seats and can get a little cramped.

Address: 950 Westwood Boulevard Los Angeles, CA 90024

2) Corner Bakery Café:
If you’re looking for a place with larger tables and delicious pastas, salads, and pastries (cream cheese frosting brownie, anyone?) while having a quiet place to study, Corner Bakery Café might be the study spot for you. It’s got free wifi, great music (that isn’t too loud or distracting), larger tables, and a great staff! It’s open every single day of the week until at least 8 pm and it’s located right next to CVS so the walk from campus isn’t unbearable either! Just be mindful of the fact that if there are too many people using their Wifi it can become a little slow.

Address: 1019 Westwood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA

3) Jerry’s Famous Deli:
This place is great for group studying. If you’ve got a lot of people that want to meet up together, Jerry’s has a large private room upstairs that you can sometimes use! Just be sure to ask the staff. You’ll find Jerry’s Deli right next to the movie theater and across the street from CVS.

Address: 10925 Weyburn Avenue Westwood, CA 90024

4) Novel Café:
If you don’t mind walking a bit (particularly to Kinross Avenue), Novel Café is a great study place with large windows so the sunlight can pour in and even better food. It’s got free wifi and a very friendly staff. It’s open from 8 am to 11:30 pm on the weekdays and from 8 am to 11 pm on the weekends. It’s a great place to go grab some brunch on the weekends and just sit and study for a while. They’ve got a menu that covers pretty much everything from omelets to quesadillas to salads!

Address: 1101 Gayley Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90024

5) Starbucks:
And of course, there’s always the obvious choice for a study spot: Starbucks! It’s got everything we love: coffee to keep us pushing through those last few problems, pages, and books, great music, and the comfortable environment. It’s an obvious choice for many students to hit the books. But a word of caution: as such a popular location it can get pretty crowded and a little noisy!
