Yup, it’s here! It’s October once again, which means pumpkins, horror nights at Universal…and figuring out what to wear. As much as we all wish we could pull a Lindsay Lohan in Mean Girls and go all out witchcraft on our unsuspecting friends, here are some more lowkey ideas if you are going for the “Crap I forgot to plan ahead but who cares because my costume is adorable” look!
1. Minions + Gru
If you find that you have an undying love for the Despicable Me movie franchise, look no further.
Minions: Yellow tank, denim shorts, suspenders, black gloves, and glasses/goggles
If you throw in the words “banana” and “Romsbottom” throughout the night, you literally deserve a medal.
Gru: A black top or jacket, a striped scarf, and a borderline grumpy look. If there’s someone in your group with a midterm the Monday after Halloweekend…I’d recommend them for the most authentic of expressions.
2. Bruin Bear
Ready to rep the best school on the best holiday of the year? You’ll need bear-like ears (or any ears and if someone questions the authenticity of your bear ears just tell them that’s what they are, and to google image it if they don’t believe you. Keep your fingers crossed that they don’t actually google image it). And other than that any UCLA tank or top will do!
3. Walt and Jesse from Breaking Bad
If you and your best bro happen to have yellow sweatshirts and pants you are willing to sacrifice for the greater good that is Halloween, this is for you! This plus a helmet and you will almost be the real deal. It’s best to look generally badass. Carrying around a beaker wouldn’t hurt either…unless you dropped it on someone. So proceed with caution!
4. Government Shutdown
If you have a touristy shirt from a national park somewhere in America, just throw that on, take some red tape and make an “X” over the logo on your shirt. We’re in college surrounded by political enthusiasts and activitists, so your outfit will definitely be appreciated. You might be forced into having a political discussion you didn’t want to have. So…sorry in advance if that’s the case.
5. Piper and Alex from Orange is the New Black
Reveal your softer side and your tougher side with a friend and be Piper and Alex from Orange is the New Black! All you need is a tan shirt, tan pants and black combat boots and you’re set!
These are just a few fun ideas for costumes, but thankfully there is no wrong way to dress up so you literally can’t go wrong! Happy Early Halloween everyone!
