12 Reasons NOT to Miss #BeautyConLA

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

If you love fashion and make-up than I’m sure you have heard of BeautyCon. BeautyCon is a fashion, beauty, and lifestyle convention that takes place every year in a few select cities, including Los Angeles on Saturday August 12th and Sunday August 13th. Doesn’t matter if you are just starting to wear make-up or are a famous beauty vlogger, BeautyCon has something for everyone to enjoy.

This year it’s going to be wild. How do we know? This year, the Beautycon Festival Los Angeles celebrates “Beauty in the Wild” – a call to be bold in expressing the different layers to your individuality. The theme explores the power of beauty through self-expression. That means inspiring, discovering and learning from a community of rule breakers and innovators. Oh, and did we mention Chrissy Teigen will be there?

Here are 12 reasons why you cannot miss BeautyCon this year!

1.) You may walk away with a car.

No, seriously. Lime Crime is hooking up one lucky festival goer on-site to walk – ahem – ride away in style. I hope I’m not the only one imaging a lime car filled with make-up inside.

2.) Real people. Real talk. Real time.

Find beauty inspiration, ask questions, and get the right recommendations from people like you on the new exclusive Sephora Community – launching first at Beautycon.

3.)The Kardashian’s make-up artist will be there!

How do the Kardashians get their “natural glow-mance?” Ask their makeup artist Hrush Achemyan who will be on-site teaching Beauty Academy ticket-holders how to apply make-up like a Kardashian.

4.) Learn what’s next from our favorite Orange is the New Black star, Laverne Cox, as she’s interviewed on stage by Joe Zee.

5.) Beauty and brains, our girl-crush, Black-ish star Yara Shahidi, is taking time out from being perpetually awesome to do a fireside chat on the power of female friendship – go, girl!

6.) There will be Girl Bosses everywhere!

Sophia Amoruso (the OG Girl Boss) will be moderating a panel with Simone Biles and other amazing ladies on being a GIRL BOSS and you’re not going to want to miss what they’ll all have to say.

7.) There will be a BALL PIT!

This is more exciting than the Sprinkle Pool at the Museum of Ice Cream but like, even better, because it’ll be designed by none other than beauty vlogger Amanda Steele.

8.) You’ll get a real life YouTube beauty tutorial experience

If you get a Beauty Academy ticket, then you’ll have access to an exclusive experience by L’Oreal Paris, where YouTubers like Jackie Aina and Angel Merino (mac_daddy) will create their favorite looks. Best part- you get to take all the products they used throughout the day home to recreate the looks yourself!

9.) Be the first to hear breaking news

Sources tell us that Kelly Rowland from Destiny’s Child will be there with a MAJOR announcement. Hoping this will be beauty related!

10.) Amber Rose is moderating a panel.

Do we really need to say more?

11.) SO. MANY. MEET-UPS

12.) We’re giving away 2 General Admission tickets for Sunday August 13th! Check out our facebook page for details on how to win!
