Top Five Make-ups Under $20

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

I don’t know about you ladies, but with spring already here and summer right around the corner; I have been on the market for a fresh new look to match the fresh new season.  I have been playing with makeup ever since I can remember and I decided to put together a list of my top five all-time personal favorites.  And don’t worry; I know most of us are on a budget, so these are my top five must-haves under twenty dollars.

This is my absolute favorite.  It is the cheapest eyeliner I’ve found and it lasts all day.  Also, my eyes have always been sensitive to eyeliner.  I’ll try the wrong one and my eye will be watering all day.  This one doesn’t give me any reason to shed a tear, which is a huge plus.  It’s perfect for under the eye.

Hot Topic Eyeliner (black) $1.99

This bronzer is a gift from above.  It is a little pricey as far as bronzers go.  However, it is absolutely 100% worth the extra cash.  It may seem like a small amount of powder too, but a little bit goes a long way, and it’s also fabulous for sensitive skin.  It doesn’t feel heavy like other powder bronzers often do, and you have the freedom to give yourself a barely there glow, or a more noticeable boost of color which is perfect for going out.  Also, it’s really natural looking as opposed to how orange many bronzers look.  It has a matte finish, so you’re not going to look shiny either.

Bare Minerals Warmth  $18.00

Again, I have another surprising find from Hot Topic.   At first glance, I’d never expect something so cheap to work, but it does.  It is great for a smoky eye and gives you the control with how dark you want your eye shadow to be.  If you apply it with a brush it comes on a lot lighter and softer than if you apply with a typical eyeliner applicator.  You can sweep across the lower part of your lid, or apply a little to the outer corners and blend a lighter color into it.  It’s also heavily pigmented which I like a lot.  Again, this gives you a lot of control in how heavy/dark you want the eye to be.

Black Sparkle Baked Eye Shadow Hot Topic $2.99

For the top of the lid, this is my absolute favorite eyeliner ever.  Again, not only does it not bother my eyes, it lasts forever.  It doesn’t dry up, and it really gives you control when you’re applying it.  It’s especially good for people who aren’t used to applying liquid eyeliner.  It is foolproof.  You can apply a thin line or a thick wing quickly and smoothly.  It’ a definite must have!

ULTA Precision Liquid Liner (Carbon Black) $8.00

I’m not sure if it’s the shape of the brush, but this mascara works fabulously.  It doesn’t clump very easily and it’s great for lengthening.

Volum’ Express The Falsies Black Drama Mascara $6.99
