A Single Girl’s Food Guide to Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

It’s not hard to become bitter when you’re single for yet another year this holiday season (been there…still there…) People are either prepping for romantic dates or lovey-dovey displays of affection is sweet enough to make you want to gag. But before you start mean mugging every happy couple you see, or plan this coming Sunday to hole up in your room and never come out, remember this: Relationships come and go, but food will always be there for you!

*Cue Friends theme song*

Red Velvet Oreos

Limited edition, these made their debut last year and they have yet to disappoint! How can you say no to red dyed chocolate cake with cream cheese icing in the form of cookies!? And if you can, are you even human?

Singles Blizzard from DQ

Ladies and gentlemen, signal the waterworks! It warms my heart to know that the fast food chain has got our back. Dairy Queen has made the ultimate treat with “salted caramel truffles, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, peanut butter topping, and blended into their signature soft serve ice cream,” so you can treat yo self.

Krispy Kreme Themed Donuts

Not that anybody really needs an excuse to buy donuts, but what better way to embrace your singleness than with heart shaped fried dough?? Of course, if hearts are too much or not your thing, you can’t go wrong with a dozen glazed.

Strawberry Shortcake M&Ms

Festive chocolate candy is the way to go, especially when you don’t have to share it with anyone! Sure the regular milk chocolate is void of all things red, pink and white, but you’re no wimp! Show just how worthy of love you are by going the extra mile and getting these babies for yourself. You won’t be sorry.

Chocolate covered strawberries or pretzels or anything you can dip in melted chocolate ‘cause hello, CHOCOLATE!

Save some cash by making these in the dorm! All you need is chocolate chips or a chocolate bar like Hershey’s, and strawberries (or other food). Wash, dry, and set aside the strawberries. Next, melt the chocolate in intervals in the microwave until it’s smooth and creamy. Finally, dip the berries into the chocolate and freeze to set them. If you’re feeling festive, decorate with nuts or sprinkles right after the dipping into the chocolate stage.

Six Pack from Insomnia Cookies

If locking yourself away from the outside world on Valentine’s Day is your deed of choice and absolutely nothing can or will pull you away from said deed, no judgment here because a box of warm cookies delivered to your dorm is just a call or click away. In the mood for a red velvet cookie but not the Oreo variety? Insomina has got you covered!

Heart Shaped Pizza

I love pizza more than life itself and for once, my pizza can shower me back with its own tangible affection. Nice right? Pizza chains Papa Johns and Pizza Hut are selling heart shaped pizzas at select locations, and boy what a time to be alive.

So fellow Singles, go forth, eat food, and be merry!
