Real UCF Guy: “Girly” Dates Guys Like

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

Sometimes it can be difficult to get out of a dating rut. It’s not every day a new and exciting date idea comes along after all. Instead of letting it negatively affect your relationship, try taking a few ideas from your favorite “girly dates” and “girl days” and turning them into a fun date the both of you can enjoy.

Go see a chick-flick.
This one is actually quite simple. If you like movies, and he likes movies, then why not spend a couple hours enjoying one together? A chick-flick label does not automatically turn a guy off from a movie…bad acting, sappy drama, and a bad story does. A good story is a good story and most guys are perfectly fine sitting through any (decent) chick-flick because it means getting to be with you. Also…there’s an understanding that the next time he wants to see a balls-to-the-wall action film, you’ll be right beside him.

Day Spa.
Anybody who tells you they did not enjoy a relaxing day at the spa is lying, either to you or to themselves. What’s not to love? They smell nice, they’re visually appealing, they’re relaxing, and in one way or another they continuously please all five senses. A spa is actually one of the dates that continue to get more enjoyable as the relationship progresses. At first it might be nice to go get a couple’s massage. Then, a couple months later, you guys can return and spend a romantic weekend together. The possibilities here are really endless. Besides, I bet it wouldn’t take much convincing at all to get your guy a manicure, and that, collegiettes, is something you’re going to want to see.

Picnics.

This one isn’t exactly “girly,” but depending on who planned the picnic it can end up a number of different ways. This date is perfect in the beginning of a new relationship because it’s romantic without being too romantic too soon, and it gets you guys alone and able to connect, while enjoying delicious food, of course. Just remember, guys are geared towards logic and simplicity, so don’t over think this one. Pack food you both like, make sure you know exactly where you’re going, and take the lead.

Celebrate one of your accomplishments.
This may be stretching the definition of the term “date,” but I think it fits in well as the conclusion to this list. Everyone has something they excel at, and chances are, you’re going to be rewarded for whatever it is you do, and when you are, he’ll want to be there to celebrate with you. This celebrating will bring you two closer together and can lead to a fun rest of the night.

As always, the best dates are ones you both you enjoy and find ways to connect.

Until next time,
