Profile: The Miuccio Brothers

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

Meet Joey, Vinny and Nick Miuccio; brothers and students here at UCF. You may know them from Vine with their shirtless posts and 832.4 thousand followers, but day to day they’re just your typical students trying to graduate in four (five) years. Friendly, goofy and absolutely hilarious, they talked with me about their Vine and time at UCF.

Age:

Joey Miuccio (JM): 21

Vinny and Nick Miuccio (VM/NM): 22

Major:

JM and VM: Integrated Business

NM: Health Science

Hometown: Melbourne Beach

Relationship status:

JM and VM: Single

NM: Taken

Her Campus UCF (HCUCF): Blonde or brunette?

JM and VM: Doesn’t matter.

NM: Brunette

HCUCF: Biggest pet peeve?

VM: Oh yeah, when a dog owner tells me their dog doesn’t bite, and they end up biting you.

HCUCF: I feel like this is based on a personal story…

VM: I can’t stand that!

NM: People that slurp their cereal.

VM:You do that!

JM: No, I was a slurper… but, I can’t stand cigarette smokers.

HCUCF: Career goals?

VM: I’d love to own or run social media accounts for sports teams.

JM: No idea.

NM: There’s a few: sell medical devices, respiratory therapist, person trainer, dietician.

JM: Just put one of theirs into my box.

HCUCF: How long have you all been making vines?

MB: Since Fall 2013.

HCUCF: What was the first Vine that really started The Miuccio Brothers?

MB: The “Grind on Me” Video, our mom recorded it…

HCUCF: Did you create that to increase your followers or did it just sort of happen?

VM: At the time, Grind on Me was trending a bunch of kids grinding on carpet and stuff, and I posted it on my account because I thought it was funny and went to work when Nick texted me saying our viewing and following was up, so it just kind of happened.

HCUCF: Was it a priority after that to increase your following?

MB: No not really, I mean Vine is pretty dead

HCUCF: Do you plan time to make vines?

MB: No, Vinny is the brains behind our vines and follows the trends.

HCUCF: Where do you get ideas for new vines or is it just going off a shirtless theme?

MB: It was, it’s what the viewers wanted and now being funny is more popular than being shirtless.

HCUCF: What if anything, do you all plan to take away from it?

MB: We would love for it to go further than Vine; we have a YouTube and always take the opportunities that are offered to us.

HCUCF: What about applying for jobs, is that something you advertise or do you think it will affect job opportunities?

VM: I actually got my internship because of social media, it helps if anything.

NM: I’ve thought about it, but it hasn’t come up yet.

VM: I mean it’s too late now.

HCUCF: Who’s one of your favorite viners?

MB: Cody Ko

HCUCF: What made you choose UCF?

VM:  It was an easy option and direct connect from the community college back home.

HCUCF: Favorite part of UCF?

JM: The gym and being around everyone my age.

VM: Tailgates and the campus is pretty.

HCUCF: How does being Vine famous effect your time here at UCF?

VM: Not so much on campus, but if we’re together we get recognized more – we just get stared at.

JM: Maybe if I go out, people recognize me.

HCUCF: How do you react to fans approaching you?

JM: I love it!

NM: I honestly can’t stop smiling.

HCUCF: Does being Vine famous effect your dating life?

JM:  Well, I’ve always been single but I think being single or having it look as though we are helps with our social media accounts.

HCUCF: Do you work?

JM: Nope.

VM: I intern in sports marketing at UCF.

NM: I work at Catalyst.

HCUCF: What do you do in your spare time?

JM: I go out, go home, and surf.

NM: I tumble and do cheer stuff.

HCUCF: What about you, Vinny, other than take snaps in your shower?

VM: I skimboard and surf and plan vines, alright?!

HCUCF: Describe yourself in three words (Joey had a hard time with this one)

VM: I’d say ambitious, determined, and creative.

NM: I don’t know; I can be laidback but hardworking, emotional and passionate yet a rock when need be.

HCUCF: Joey? Waiting on you.

JM: I’m flowy.

HCUCF: I’m sorry what?

JM: I don’t know, I’m a happy kid and personable

HCUCF: And flowy? (Who knows?)

HCUCF: Any hidden talents?

NM: I’m a fast swimmer, can run a 6 minute mile, do a handstand for five minutes.

                *Does a handstand*

VM: I’m really creative and can skim board.

JM:  I can wrestle, I did that in high school; I can box and I’m a good surfer.

HCUCF: Do you have any advice for Vine users trying to get famous?

MB: Go with the trends.

JM: Make it funny, sexy, relatable – I think you get kind of lucky sometimes.

HCUCF: Is there anything you would like people to know about you?

MB: We’re actually really down to earth and nice, I swear!

And I can vouch for that, they were incredibly charming and funny and if you get a chance, meet them! They notice when you have your phones out “discreetly” taking photos and wish you would just come say hi. Happy stalking my friends!
