My Favorite Cruelty-Free Cosmetics Brands

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

Some months ago, I decided to go cruelty-free and only use cosmetics that are not tested on animals at all. My love for these amazing creatures is way too big for me to think that it is okay to be using them to test cosmetics and make them go through horrific experiences just so I can use pretty makeup.

But… What is “cruelty-free”?

Cruelty-free is a label for products that do not harm or kill animals anywhere in the world. Cruelty-free products are NOT tested on animals, since these tests are often painful and cause the suffering and death of millions of creatures every year.

There is an overwhelming amount of companies that do not test their products on animals, so you do not have to worry if you go cruelty-free because you will still have an amazing variety of products to use. Therefore, I decided to share some of my favorite cruelty-free companies with you so you can see that there are incredible options to choose from if you decide to adopt this practice:

LUSH

Lush is not only a cruelty-free company, but they are also vegetarian, and 80% of the products are suitable for vegans. They have amazing skin care products, face masks, moisturizers, soaps, and a lot of other products that have an incredibly high quality and are really, really good.

Anastasia Beverly Hills

Anastasia Beverly Hills is a 100% cruelty-free company. They have a big variety of products such as highlighters, bronzers, lipsticks, and eyeshadows.

Too Faced

They are 100% cruelty-free and have some vegan-friendly products too. Too Faced has amazing eyeshadow palettes that are personally my favorites. Their products have really good quality, and they are not too expensive.

Colourpop

Colourpop does NOT test its products on animals anywhere in the world. They have really cute lipsticks and a lot of different colors. Except for their “Super Shock Shadows” and “Super Shock Cheeks” products, all of the other products are 100% vegan.

Cover FX

It is a vegan and cruelty-free company and has some of the most amazing products ever. Their foundations and primers are from another world. Cover FX’s products are currently my favorites. I know they are not cheap, but the investment is 100% worth it.
