Holiday Gift Guide: Just Dance Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

The holidays are upon us, collegiettes! While you’re belting out Mariah Carey and procrastinating on finals, you also have a mountain of holiday parties to go and no idea what to get any of your friends. We’ve got you covered on a few ideas on what to get your best gals, starting with the dancers in your life:

1. Tickets to local musicals and dance concerts

There is always a concert or performance that dancers want to attend. It’s one of the most perfect gifts to give this season! In Orlando, you can purchase tickets for any of the upcoming shows at the Dr. Phillip’s Center, such as the Orlando Ballet’s Nutcracker, Dancing with the Stars Live, or Wicked.

2. Books

Give your favorite dancer something they probably don’t have, and have had their eyes on for a while. For little ballerinas, you can find Firebird, by Misty Copeland, here. For older fans, you can find An Unlikely Ballerina here. You could also think outside of the ballet box – there’s so many styles to choose from!

3. Apparel

This might be the easiest and hardest thing to buy. Anything from shoes, leotards, tights, sweaters…. The list goes on! You can get them any of the merchandise on sale at Capezio or Bloch. You could also get them anything from their favorite crew (immaBEAST or #RUKFam, anyone?)

4. Pay for them to take more classes and training workshops

This one might get you some serious brownie points. Dancers need to train: it’s literally the only way they get better. Register them and see their face light up like Light Up UCF! You might find Orlando classes at Motiv, DGBEK. You can also find classes at UCF with RUKUS Entertainment or Knights and Damsels Dance Company!

5. Stream any of their favorite movies for them

Seriously, this actually might be the easiest for them. Even if you can’t stream, at least try to find them their favorite dance movie. You can use Step Up, Honey, Center Stage, and some might even let you get away with the Bring It On Franchise. Don’t forget about musicals, too!

6. Stop acting as if you understand dance problems.

Because you don’t understand “I can’t; I have dance” is a valid excuse for everything. Enough said.

And if you need any other ideas, check out HerCampus’ official holiday guide. Happy holiday shopping, collegiettes!
