5 Reasons Why You Should Appreciate the “Mom” in the Friend Group

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

Every friend group has one, and sometimes they’re easy to spot. Chances are you didn’t pick this role, but it was given to you, you’ve learned to accept it because it’s who you are.  If you’re anything like me, you didn’t sign up to be the “mom” in the friend group. But here’s a shout out to you and all you do. Here are 5 reasons why you should appreciate your mom away from home.

  1. They’re always rooting for you

No matter what’s going on, you can always count on them to support you and give you encouragement.

         “You’re doing amazing sweetie.”

   2.  They’re the therapist that you don’t have to pay for

Not only will they listen to you, but they’ll give you the advice that you need. Tough love is hard to swallow, but they know exactly what to say.

If something’s going on, they’ll drop everything to help you through it and be there for you.

 3. They’ve got the Marry Poppins purse

If you ever needed something or were missing something, chances are they had it. Bobby pins? Bandages? Don’t you worry.

You never know what’s in that bag.

  4. They always have the snacks or the munchies

If you’re every hungry, chances are this friend will have a snack ready to go. If they don’t, they’ll probably offer to buy something for you.

 5. They always want to know if you got home safe

Instead of waiting in the dark for you to get home, they’re waiting by the phone for your text or call to make sure you’re safe.

There are so many more reasons to appreciate the mom in the group, and I’ve only scratched the surface. If you’ve been sent this, you’re appreciated and loved by your fellow friends. Send this to the mom in your group :)
