10 Things Every OITNB Fan Experiences During the New Release

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

There is a lot of emotion that comes with OITNB. From loving or hating the characters, to the anxiety and excitment we all get when a new season is set to be released, we all feel it. Here is a list of all the things we feel when Netflix releases another season of OITNB.

1. Waiting for the new season.

This includes massive excitement and mildly lurking through each actresses’ Instagram accounts. I know I’m not the only who is still trying to piece together everything from last season and figure out what’s going happen to this season. There’s so much to get ready for, but I’m so happy about everything that’s coming.

2. Trying to convince yourself before-hand that you will watch responsibly.

This is a whole lot easier said than done, and who are we even kidding? Binge watching is a choice that each of us make at some point in our lives.

3. Counting down the days until the release date.

Hopefully, Netflix will release it early as they did last year. But until then, you can relive all of the heartbreak and excitement of seasons 1, 2 and 3 rewatch seasons 1-3 because there’s a lot of time between now and June 17.

4. Watching the first episode…

The theme song starts playing and you just get excited, regardless of whether you actually love or hate the theme song.

5. And the next..

The cliffhangers at the end of every episode make it so easy to just continue watching. How can you stop at just one?

6. And just one more…

Like I said earlier, you tried to covince yourself to watch responsibly… I never said any of us actually would. ;) The plot and characters are too alluring.

7. Realizing it’s 2:52 a.m. and that you should try to sleep.

I think its safe to assume we’ve all watched a little longer than we planned…But it’s okay, right?

8. Eventually finish the season.

It’s always heartbreaking, but with OITNB it’s even more so. We lose characters, in several ways, and we don’t know how to hande any of it. Our favorites go through a lot, and we can’t be there for them no matter how much our hearts wish we could. Our favorites also become the characters we hate, and vice versa. There’s just so much to handle. And then the season is over, and we get no more updates.

9. React to the season finale.

This is its own step, because it can be such a long process. I’m honestly still reeling from last season. What happened to Alex when she was stuck in the garden with Kubra’s spy? Is Black Cindy going to suddenly change now that she’s Jewish? WHEN IS BENETT COMING BACK? What happened to the Daya’s siblings when Cesar got arrested? It’s been almost a year and I still can’t fathom anything that may happen.

10. Repeat for the next year.

Seriously, Netflix. I don’t know what kind of game you guys are playing, but I would like to see seasons 5, 6, and 7 before the year 2018. I think that’s fair considering how loyal OITNB fans are. Please don’t make us go all Lone Wolf Piper on you guys.
