Finals have arrived. It’s everyone’s least favorite time of the quarter. This week can be extremely hard on your body and soul, so be sure to take care of yourself physically and mentally. Here are some self-care tips to help keep you going throughout the week!

1. Get enough sleep

This may seem obvious, but sometimes we forget to rest. Avoid those all-nighters and make sure you get enough sleep. I recommend starting to study earlier and not procrastinating. The earlier you finish studying, the more hours of sleep you’ll get.

2. Go outside during study breaks

Study breaks are extremely important. The fresh air outside can help you clear your mind. Take the time during your break to step outside and stretch after those long hours of sitting.

3. Eat healthy foods

It might be easier to only eat protein bars during this study week, but it’s not a good idea. Even though it’s a long and stressful week, you should make sure to continue eating balanced, nutritious meals. Stay away from junk food and feed your brain!

4. Drink plenty of water

Hydration is key during finals week! We often forget to drink enough water throughout the day. There are numerous water stations around campus, so whenever you pass one, fill up your water bottle and stay hydrated.

5. Do something for yourself

Yes, this week is all about studying and taking tests, but try to do something fun for yourself as well. After a big test, reward yourself by buying a yummy lunch or your favorite dessert. You can also take an hour or two to draw yourself a bath, paint your nails, light some candles, or put on your favorite face mask!

This week may seem like the longest week of your life and you can’t wait for it to be over, but practice some self-care and you’ll feel better. Remember to have a positive attitude and take some deep breaths before each test. You’re all going to do great on finals and have an amazing winter break!
