California Women’s List at UC Davis, an organization on campus that advocates for empowering and voting women into office, will be hosting their Spring Panel of Powerful Women this Wednesday. The panel, which consists of three accomplished and influential women, will focus on the night’s main theme: Advice for Emerging Young Professionals in the Current Social Political Climate.

This will be CWL’s second Panel of Powerful Women event. The first, which was back in November, fostered empowering conversations about the panelists’ professional and political experiences. Only a week after the 2016 election, the panel was extremely refreshing and inspiring. As an attendee, I was given advice for succeeding in the political world, as well as encouragement and support to do so. The panelists were more than happy to share their extensive knowledge with the audience, either during the panel or individually afterwards. The panel this Wednesday will be similar.

The first panelist announced for the Spring Panel of Powerful Women is Danielle Beavers, the Diversity and Inclusion Director at The Greenlining Institute. As the Diversity and Inclusion Director, Beavers fights for economic and racial justice as she works with Offices of Minority and Women Inclusion and serves on the California Department of Insurance’s Diversity Task Force.

The second panelist will be Cristina Garcia, a California State Assemblymember representing Assembly District 58 (southeast Los Angeles). Assemblymember Garcia serves on the Legislative Women’s Caucus and is vice chair on the Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. She also founded a Young Legislators program to encourage and educate high school students on becoming efficent leaders.

The final panelist is Cheri Greven, the Director of Public Affairs at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte. Greven’s responsibilities lie in managing campaigns, gifts, donor acquisition, and retention for Planned Parenthood. She has a passion for human rights, economic empowerment, education, and civil rights.
