10 Things I Hate About Romantic Comedies

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCD chapter.

  1. They’re unrealistic.

  1. They’re sappy and tug at my heart strings.

  2. They have so many memorable quotes in them I can’t help but use in real life.

  1. I will never be Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock, or Meg Ryan, and that’s kind of upsetting.

  1. They make it seem as though being loved is the only thing that matters in life.

  1. They’re super relatable at times, and those are the worst romcoms, because you just can’t stop watching them.

  1. If you’re single, romcoms make you feel extra single.

  1. People always kiss in the rain. WHY? WHY IS THIS A RECURRING THEME? I NEED TO KNOW.

  1. The guys in the movies are too good to be true.

  1. The thing I hate most about romcoms? Is that I don’t hate them, not even a little, not even at all (see what I did there?).
