This weeks campus crush, Sergio Vega, (21) is not your average UCR student.  Not only is our crush a forth year pursuing his B.S in Chemical Engineering, Sergio is also a modern day cowboy, currently commuting to school from the vast ranch land of Hesperia, CA.  Sergio’s non-traditional hobbies of leisure reading, playing piano, horse back riding, and skateboarding almost renders him “Mr. Right” for all the girls who have had their hearts broken by Mr. Wrong. Sergio is 6 feet tall or as he himself converted “1.83 Meters” and weighs 165lbs or as he states “78.84 Kilograms”. During an interview session at the HUB, Sergio proved that he was not your average “frat guy”, (currently in a multicultural fraternity on campus Beta Upsilon Delta) and not only was Sergio insightful, humble, and modest about his good looks and charms, but he has qualities that would surely be checked off of most girl’s checklists.

Vencci: “What are you goals and plans for the future?”
Sergio: “I would like to get out of California and hopefully work at an Oil Refinery in Texas, then probably settle at NASA where I will hopefully be hired after applying various times”

Vencci: “Tell me about your favorite childhood memory”
Sergio: “My favorite childhood memory…probably when I was six years old and I visited my grandparents in Guadalajara, Mexico. I went on a road trip with my family…we drove from Santa Ana—the town I grew up in—all the way to mid Mexico. It took us three nights to drie there but when we finally arrived I got to ride my first horse and milk my first cow haha. My grands’ have acres of farm land out there and their main produce is corn.”

Vencci: “What are your current priorities?”
Sergio: “Well, I guess finishing up school, explore new areas, soak up a little aspect of life here and there, and meet as many interesting people as I can.”

Vencci: “What do you look for in a girl?”
Sergio: “Personality, mainly. She’s gotta be super chill and funny and gotta be able to play along with my jokes, and be pretty much down to earth…like me…except my jokes suck. Next, she has to have a lot of energy and be down to do anything without being lazy or tired. None of that indoor stuff.”

Vencci: “What kind of values would you like your girlfriend to have?”
Sergio: “Gotta respect the family and work for her own money..or my money..haha but she’s gotta do special work for that. –Just kidding.”

Vencci: “Does she need to know anything? Like how to cook?”
Sergio: “If she can make a sandwich with Doritos on the side then I’m hooked. I’m also fine with hot dogs.”

Vencci: “What are your major turn offs about a girl?”
Sergio: “A girl that thinks she’s the sh*t. Mmm, another turn off is a girl who doesn’t care. For example, if one is putting up a certain amount of effort and the other does not reciprocate or matching up with him/her. There must be equilibrium in the system!”

Vencci: “Where would you take a girl on a first date?”
Sergio: “Tijuana, Mexico. Just kidding…Las Vegas…Just kidding..hmmm probably a wild animal park followed by dinner. This is tough question, it all depends on who it is and what their interests are too.”

Vencci: “Who is your celebrity crush and your role model?”
Sergio: “Maria Sharapova—because she’s freaken hot! Haha and as for role model Jose Herandez a NASA Astronaut.”

Vencci: “What’s one advice you’d like to give to girls?”
Sergio: “Don’t search for “boys”. Look for Men.”

So hurry up cowgirls! This one won’t be on the market for long! Sergio is not your average cowboy next door, so you better polish those lassoing skills before someone else reels this fine gentleman in for herself!
