Music Spotlight: Shannon and the Clams

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Riverside chapter.

Shannon and the Clams is a band I came to adore last summer when I attended Burger a-Go-Go!, a small music festival at the Observatory in Santa Ana. It’s difficult to pinpoint a precise genre for them—they blend elements such as doo-wop, surf rock, and punk in the most pleasing way. At first listen, you’d be surprised to learn that they are modern band because they sound like a band that would be playing in the background of a retro diner. Regardless of their vintage vibe, they could probably also beat you up if you messed with their perfectly coiffed hair, and I respect that. They’ll be playing a free show at the Getty Museum on June 20, so needless to say, I highly recommend that you check them out.
