Beyond all things, the best aspect of our campus cuties is the fact that they are so multitalented and they’re extremely diverse in their interests and passions. That is definitely the case with Martha!
What do you do on your free time? On my free time I like to watch shows like New Girl, that’s my favorite. I have long conversations with my sister; I think a strong relationship with your family is very important. I enjoy hiking, spending a little bit of time on the web, and most importantly I love to eat! It makes life all the more worthwhile; it’s one of our most sensitive senses: taste!
Who would you have lunch with if you could have lunch with any three people? Cory Monteith if he were still alive, may his soul rest in peace, I totally fell in love with his character on the show Glee. The second person would be Max Greenfield who plays Schmidt, my favorite character on the television series New Girl because he’s hilarious. A sense of humor is crucial to me. I enjoy people that can make me laugh. The third person is Josh Hutcherson because he is adorable and he’s got a pretty strong person. He has a lot of amazing values that he is willing to stand by. That’s always a great aspect and makes him seem like a cool guy.
How did you choose your major? I chose Business because it’s challenging, it seems to be always changing and that’s fun. I had a teacher in high school that wasn’t an easy pass at all, but was so intelligent. She actually taught us and it’s super to have someone serious about what they do. She meant business (pun intended). It was always made clear that she was boss and we were sort of compelled to be good students. I would like to be someone’s boss some day!
What is on your to-do list for 2014? To raise my GPA, get more A’s in school. I’m looking forward to helping raise money for cancer awareness, getting a car, making new friends and spending lots of time with the friends I already have. I want to venture out and go to a bunch of places that I’ve never been to. I hope to apply for internships, and most importantly spend quality time with my family. Like I stated before, family is crucial to me. I just want to have an adventure, see the massive world, make a difference, enjoy what I have and never let it go!
What is currently on your playlist? I’m usually really open when it comes to music. I don’t limit myself to one specific genre. I’m currently listening to a lot of Surfer Blood, My Chemical Romance, Lana Del Rey, The Smiths, One Direction, and a bunch of Regional Mexican songs by La Arrolladora Banda el Limon and La Banda Sianloense MS. Nothing about my playlist is typical and I love that about my music.
How do you define fashion? I’m not really into fashion. I tend to just wear whatever I feel comfortable in and that I personally like. I guess if I had to elaborate, I wear a lot of clothes that are pink, have hearts, or polka dots.
Do you have any secret hobbies? I secretly watch a lot of romantic comedies while eating tons of popcorn. But I guess that’s not so secret anymore. (laughs)
What are you most passionate about? I am so extremely passionate about success. I want to make my parents as proud of me as they can possibly be. That is my overall goal.
What do you plan on doing after college? I definitely want to go to grad school, get a higher degree. I plan on having a career that continues to challenge me, otherwise I feel like things would get boring. I thrive off of challenges and new experiences. Another thing I plan on doing is giving back to the community, whatever I can do, I plan on doing it. Also, because family is so important to me the number one goal is to give back to them, assist them with whatever I can, I want to make sure that all my family in Mexico is able to live a healthy lifestyle and I’m going to follow through on that. And aside from all that, I’d really just like to travel. The world really is massive, I haven’t seen hardly as much of it as I’d like to.
