Interviewing My High School Self

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UBC chapter.

This week, I decided to interview my high school self by asking a variety of basic questions and comparing what I would say now versus what I would have said in high school. Here are the questions:

Name?

High school: Samantha Schumacher

Present: Samantha Schumacher

Current city?

HS: Salmon Arm, BC

P: Vancouver, BC

Favourite song?

HS: Cheerleader by OMI.

P: I’m really loving Angela by the Lumineers.

Thoughts on High School?

HS: Get me out of here! I am so ready to move on.

P: Although I’m happy to be out of high school, I do miss the lighter work load and being able to see all my friends everyday.

HS: Probably attending a party at ____’s house.

P: Watching Netflix and catching up on sleep!

How important are your grades to you?

HS: Very! I try to maintain A’s in all of my classes.

P: At this point I’ll be satisfied if I pass everything.

Thoughts on University?

HS: I cannot wait! I’m so excited to move out of this town and take interesting classes, meet new people, and begin my life.

P: I love learning and meeting new people, but I cannot wait to be out of school and also to have money again!

Thoughts on Salmon Arm/living at home?

HS: I cannot wait to leave this town for a big city and to never look back! I’m also so ready to live on my own and be free!

P: I miss seeing my family every day…but I don’t miss living in Salmon Arm.

What do you want to do as a career?

HS: Either a lawyer or something in government.

P: LOL No idea.

Thing you’re most looking forward to?

HS: Graduation and prom!

P: Being able to sleep and afford food again.

Thoughts on Vancouver?

HS: I love it.

P: I love it.
