5 Places to Eat in Vancouver This Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UBC chapter.

Summer is all about relaxing on patios, drinking refreshing cocktails, and devouring fresh food. Vancouver is bursting with diverse restaurants to try-from fine dining to places where you can eat in your bikini-which is what makes it the perfect city for international foodies and locals alike. Whether you are celebrating the sunshine with friends or catching up with relatives, these are my personal favourites to add to your Summer bucket list:

1. The Boathouse – Kitsilano Location

Just steps off of Kitsilano beach, The Boathouse offers fresh seafood and delicious wines. The large patio space with views of sandy beaches, the ocean, and palm trees below will make you feel as though you are on a tropical retreat. I recommend trying the crab and lobster stuffed ravioli with a glass of Gray Monk Estate Pinot Gris.

2. Las Margaritas – West 4th Avenue

Las Margaritas is definitely a favourite among locals and tourists alike for its authentic Mexican cuisine and, you guessed it, amazing margaritas. The wait time for a table during busy hours may seem daunting, but the experience is worth it. I recommend trying the chiles rellenos with a ceasar made with tequila – Buen Provecho!

3. Glory Juice Co. – West 4th Avenue

Enjoy a variety of vegan options ranging from smoothie bowls to avocado toast, each sure to inspire and delight at Glory Juice Co. The fresh pressed juices provide a healthy dosage of greens while the organic smoothies fill you with a delicious concoction of nutritious fruits and supplements. I recommend trying the blueberry maca smoothie.

4. Los Amigos Taqueria – Davie Street

With the welcoming staff and warm atmosphere, Los Amigos will quickly feel like home. They offer a wide range of authentic Mexican tacos for the amazing price of $9.99/four tacos. This place also stands out because they serve their tacos with locally made Caliente hot sauce – a fresh, organic take on traditional habanero hot sauce. Although all of the tacos are great, my personal favourites are the super veggie and nopales.

5. Firecrust Neapolitan Pizzeria – Davie Street

Although it may not look like much from the outside, Firecrust serves some of the best pizza I’ve ever eaten. The restaurant takes a build-your-own meal approach by creating your pizza as you watch. Starting with the dough, you may choose one of their menu options or customize the pizza according to your personal flavour palette. Once prepared, the pizzas are cooked in a large oven, resulting in authentic Italian pies bursting with flavour. I recommend trying the vegetale with extra cheese.

Relish in the last couple months of summer, HCUBC Cuties, and let us know if you try any of these restaurants, or have suggestions of your own.
