One of the most important things that we can do is care for ourselves. This past week, we used our social media here at HC U Wyoming to give reminders that we should practice self care everyday. To finish off this week, I wanted to give some extra advice to everyone that feels like they don’t know how to care for themselves. (Even if you do know, self love is always something you should try to practice!)

1) Celebrate Everything

We can accomplish so much in just one day. Celebrate everything. From waking up to finishing your homework to making dinner. Everything can be a victory.

2) Learn Something New

Have you ever wanted to learn about the stars? What about another country? Pick up a book or search the internet and learn something new.

3) Go For a Hike

Not only is the wilderness absolutely gorgeous, but it can also be relaxing and serene. Grab a friend, or go by yourself, and get out in nature!

4) Turn Off Your Phone

Unplug for the day. This may seem hard (maybe even scary) but trust me, you will feel so much better after taking a break from your virtual world.

5) Listen to Music

Who doesn’t love some great tunes? Listening to some of your favorite songs can be extremely relaxing.

6) Take a Bath

Not only is it relaxing, but you’ll get clean! Two birds, one stone.

These are just a few things that can help you promote self care in your daily lives. Also, always remember that here at the University of Wyoming we have some amazing resources that promote help to promote your overall wellness such as:

The Wellness Center- http://www.uwyo.edu/rec/wellness-center/

The University Counseling Center- http://www.uwyo.edu/ucc/

Don’t forget to take care of yourselves every once in awhile. Life can be stressful and self love is always a great way to hit pause on all of your problems.

Writing is hard, but I love it. "Little girls with dreams become women with vision." HC U Wyoming Writing since 2016
Abbey is a senior at the University of Wyoming and is currently majoring in Journalism. She couldn't imagine a world without Jesus, coffee, The 1975, Twitter or her family. You'll usually find her at a concert or cafe somewhere, which is where she spends majority of her free-time. Talking to band members after their shows is a hobby, along with thrifting & indulging in all aspects of pop culture. After college, she plans to spend more time at concerts, getting paid to write about music and bands.
