14 Thoughts You Have While Pulling An All-Nighter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Vic chapter.

You’ve done it before and even though you say you won’t, you’ll probably end up doing it again. Maybe you have a paper due in 8 hours or an exam you have done absolutely no studying for. Whatever it is, you’re about to lock yourself in your room and work away. Pulling an all nighter isn’t the healthiest way to finish assignments but sometimes it just has to be done. Here are some thoughts you’ve probably had while toiling through the night:

1. “It’s only 8pm? I’ve got this. I’ll be in bed by midnight!”

2. “Ugh, I’m already bored…”

3. “I should play music…THIS IS MY JAM!!!”

4. “Wait, wait I’m supposed to be working.”

5. “ I HAVE to finish this. I REALLY have to finish this.”

6. “I’m so good at this. I’ll be done in no time.”

7. “It’s 2am?? How’d that happen?”

8. “I need more coffee.”

9. “Too much coffee! Wish I didn’t have to use the washroom every 5 minutes.”

10. “I should take a nap. But what if I don’t wake up? Fine, okay, no nap for me.”

11. “My eyes are tired. How am I supposed to keep them open?”

12. “Wah, I just want to sleep.”

13. “NO, I can do this. I’m almost there.”

14. “I’m FINALLY done! Time to catch some Zs.”

Femi Tunde-Oladepo is in her final year at the University of Victoria where she is studying at the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business. After her undergrad, Femi hopes to read law and master French, Spanish and Italian. She is an active volunteer in her community and enjoys working with the Rotaract Club on campus. Having filled numerous notebooks as a child, Femi adores writing — especially short stories. She likes to dance (spontaneously), listen to all genres of music, laugh loudly and be the sassiest person in a room. In her spare time, Femi likes to window shop online, go for runs and reorganize spaces. One day, Femi hopes to perfect the art of soft pretzels.
