Trevor True Blue

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Toronto chapter.

To celebrate the holidays, we’re going to be doing something a little different for our Campus Cutie this week. We’re introducing you to someone that, in theory, we should all know but really, the large majority of people on campus have no idea exists. His name is Trevor, and he’s adorable.

Who is Trevor you ask? Why, no other than U of T’s very own school mascot. And while we didn’t get a chance to sit down for a one on one interview with the mysterious fellow, we like to think that this adds an air of mystery to him. The strong, silent type y’know? So we really can’t tell you whether he’s single, or what college he’s in, or even what his major is. Although he has had a movie made about him, so, he’s also kind of famous! A local celebrity, if you will. We also like to think that he’s the most patriotic of all the school mascots- he is a beaver after all. And what could possibly be more patriotic than a beaver named True Blue?

But here are the basics. His full name is Trevor True Blue, and he’s got a sister named Blaze. He’s obviously risen to the top of his profession- he is the official mascot of the University of Toronto’s Varsity Blues, after all. And really, what school would you want to cheer for aside from the BEST school in the country? And while Trevor doesn’t show up at all the games (he only attends home football games, select men’s and women’s basketball games, and volleyball and hockey games), when he does show up he’s the life of the party. He makes games and half time shows THAT much more fun and adds a bit of school spirit to a community that isn’t exactly known for it’s school spirit. He also shows up at various on-campus and off campus community functions as an ambassador for the university’s athletic department.

So, now that you’ve met Trevor, you have all the more incentive to go to a game and meet him! See you at the next Varsity Blues game!

Natalie has recently completed her second year at the University of Toronto with a double major in History and Ethics, Society, and Law. She is excited to bring Her Campus to U of T and seeing it expand its presence in Canada. She is also active in the school's Model United Nations circles and numerous organizations off campus and is best described as a political and pop culture junkie. Born and raised in Toronto, she is blindingly proud of everything the city has to offer including the best school in the country, no matter what Macleans says, and its sports teams, no matter how many times they may lose or miss the playoffs.
